Recreation Fee Technician

Duties Collect appropriate fees at a park visitor center or entrance station.
Review shift reports to ensure completeness and accuracy of fee collection and/or donations records.
Preform recurring reconciliation duties ensuring fee and/or donation funds are appropriately deposited in the proper accounts.
Inventory and restock fee program supplies.
Provide current and accurate information and excellent customer service to visitors.

Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
Complete the initial online assessment and USA Hire Assessment, if required.
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
A uniform allowance will be provided.
You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
This position has a mixed work schedule based on the varying workload, and your work schedule is subject to change from part-time to full-time to on-call as workload dictates.
If you are a new employee in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties.
Prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year thereafter (or more frequently if management determines such need exists), you will be required to sign an affidavit certifying to your possession of a valid State issued driver's license that is current and has not been revoked, suspended, canceled, or otherwise disqualified in any way to prohibit your operation of a motor vehicle.
You will also submit a photocopy of your valid State issued driver's license prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year, or more frequently if management determines such need exists.
Lastly, you may be required to submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that discloses all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.

You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.

To qualify for this position at the GS-5 grade level, you must possess at least one or all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
ONE year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 level in the Federal Service.
This experience includes having the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position.
This includes handling, tracking, or depositing monies; using software programs to maintain financial/accounting data (such as fee and stock data); performing fee collection, accounting or financial duties; and using tools or equipment (e.
g.
, cash registers, calculators, etc.
) to make sales transactions; ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial records, and customer service.
This experience must have been equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of at least the GS-4 grade level in the federal service.
You must include hours per week worked.
-OR- EDUCATION:
Four years of education above high school (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university.
(One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
